New CCS Principal meets East Charlotters at Spear’s Store
On Dec. 4, in order to carry out what she said was important to do, which is talk face-to-face with increasingly broader segments of the Charlotte community about CCS, Principal Barbara Anne Komons-Montroll took questions, comments and observations from several of those who regularly gather in the morning for coffee and town talk at Spear Street Corner Store.

There it sat on the newspaper rack in Spear’s Store, East Charlotte. After having paid extra for an expanded edition, I needed a forklift to hoist the Free Press to my truck.

Charlotte resident Bob Turnau was featured in an Oct. 15 Burlington Free Press story about the fraud in emission standards engineered into diesel-powered Volkswagens. Turnau bought a Jetta Sportwagen TDI two years ago and was very pleased with what he perceived to be its high fuel mileage—over 50 miles per gallon on one long trip, he noted.

On July 10 nearly 100 bicyclists gathered at the Town Beach to pedal between Charlotte and Ferrisburgh in a 13-mile loop honoring the cyclist Dr. Ken Najarian. Spencer Knapp, attorney and friend of Najarian, led the brigade on its ride. Najarian died in an accident on June 17.
