My sister and I spent last weekend cleaning out our parents’ home so we can sell it this summer. In the attic we found a picture of our family from the last time we were all together—years ago.

My 12-year-old daughter is studying government in school and has been following the presidential campaign, along with becoming more informed about how our town works.

It is a very hard thing in life to lose a friend and wish he wasn’t gone. Most of us feel sad about losing someone special to us at some point in our lives.

I have a conundrum as to who to help. Here is my predicament: Almost every year, for many years, I, along with some of my fellow former teammates, volunteer to help my old college coach run a very large tournament for the college that is usually understaffed

Dear Courage,
My wife is becoming increasingly bothered by the long winters in Vermont. We have wonderful friends here and good jobs (and these are not easy for us to come by). I don’t want to start all over again in a new location just for added warmth and sunlight, although I know I would enjoy these, too. I want to respect her need for this, though, as an important quality of life issue. How can we make a decision whether to stay or move?
